Digital Initiatives Librarian – Cleveland State University

Position Description: Contributes to the creation and maintenance of the library’s digital initiatives. Coordinates the integration of metadata creation, use and practices throughout the library. Provides outreach and leads a program of scholarly information management and retrieval for faculty and students. Contributes to library decision making; serves on teams to carry out library goals as specified in assignments. Keeps up-to-date in librarianship and information technology, applying current information technologies in carrying out assigned responsibilities. Engages in scholarly, professional and service activities. Interacts professionally with all internal and external customers using strong interpersonal skills.

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited program. Familiarity with metadata standards, such as Dublin Core and EAD. Experience with or exposure to the concepts, applications, standards and practices of organizing information. Demonstrated proficiency with XML and HTML. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; flexibility and ability to work collaboratively in a diverse environment.

Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated knowledge of the issues and trends in digital library development and metadata standards. Skilled in project planning, leadership, communication, and management. Knowledgeable in the areas of institutional repositories or integrated library systems and related computer operations. Pertinent professional experience.

Please join us as we celebrate the opening of the Eastman Reading Garden and the new temporary installation by artist, Scott Stibich. The artwork, titledFigure/Ground, is part of the annual See Also program, which brings works of art into the Garden each year.  See Also is made possible through an endowment of the late Lockwood Thompson, former trustee of the Cleveland Public Library and an avid supporter of the arts.

Limited street parking is available along East 6th Street, St. Clair, Vincent and Euclid Avenues.  Valet is available at the Hyatt Regency or Marriott.  Garages are available at 200 Public Square and off Vincent. Walking, biking, and public transportation are also recommended.

Cleveland Archival Roundtable June Meeting

My apologies for the very lateness of this announcement!

Please join the Cleveland Archival Roundtable on Thursday June 14th for a visit to Cinecraft Productions. Cinecraft is a 73 year old film and video production company providing a wide variety of films, video, and animation to corporate clients.  The company manages a large film archive with all of the film preservation issues that many of us also grapple with.  Join us to learn about their tricks of the trade!

Parking:  Cinecraft is a large brownstone building with a green awning covered with ivy almost on the corner of Franklin and West 25th street. It

is surrounded by Lutheran Hospital.  Please park in the lot directly across from Cinecraft behind and alongside the Kan Zaman restaurant. Please fill up the back and side of the lot first before parking in front of the restaurant.  Kan Zaman has two huge billboards bordering it. You can’t miss it on the northwest corner of West 25th  and Franklin.
